Recently, the core rotor components—upper crown, lower ring, and blades—manufactured by Liaoning Fuan Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. for the Mohmand Hydropower Project in Pakistan have successfully passed quality inspection and have now been officially shipped for delivery.
In the early stages of the project, in response to international clients’ stringent “zero-defect” requirements for products, a joint expert team from Pakistan’s Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA), China Energy Engineering Group Gezhouba Corporation (CGGC), and Voith Hydro (VHS) visited Fuan Heavy Industry to conduct an audit of its R&D capabilities, quality management systems, and manufacturing expertise, concluding with high praise. This milestone underscores that Fuan Heavy Industry’s advanced equipment-manufacturing technology has once again earned international recognition, positioning the company as a model for Chinese enterprises under the Belt and Road Initiative in leveraging superior manufacturing capabilities to support global energy-infrastructure development.

As a core piece of equipment for clean energy, the hydroelectric generator’s rotor components—whose dimensional accuracy and performance parameters directly determine the unit’s operational efficiency and service life—face unique challenges. The upper crown and lower ring must withstand high-intensity water flow impacts and substantial mechanical loads, while the blade profile accuracy has a direct bearing on energy conversion efficiency. To meet international customers’ stringent “zero-defect” requirements, Fuan Heavy Industry has assembled a dedicated team led by senior engineers and established a comprehensive, end-to-end quality-control system that exceeds industry standards—covering everything from casting process design and CNC machining simulation to final product inspection.

In the end-to-end manufacturing of critical turbine components for the Mohmand Hydropower Station, Fuan Heavy Industry has fully demonstrated its ability to deliver high-end equipment with exceptional speed and uncompromising quality. This achievement is the result of years of deep investment in research and development: through continuous optimization of process flows, the company has secured dozens of nationally authorized patents and has repeatedly participated in major national-level equipment projects. The successful completion of this international acceptance test not only serves as an authoritative validation of Fuan Heavy Industry’s overall technological prowess but also underscores the company’s steadily growing competitiveness within the global high-end equipment value chain. The rotor components—bearing the mission of this collaboration—have now been dispatched. These precision-engineered parts are more than just a testament to advanced manufacturing capabilities; they stand as a tangible symbol of China’s commitment to joint development and shared benefits with countries along the Belt and Road Initiative. Amidst the twin forces of globalization and the green energy transition, Fuan Heavy Industry is advancing with a pragmatic and enterprising approach, steadily propelling China’s high-end manufacturing onto the world stage.

Mohmand Hydropower Station in Pakistan
The Mohmand Hydropower Station is a large-scale, integrated infrastructure project located on the Swat River in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province in northwestern Pakistan. The dam is a concrete-face rockfill dam, with a height of 213 meters, a length of 717 meters, and a crest width of 12 meters, and a total installed capacity of 800,000 kilowatts. Upon completion, the project is expected to generate 2.862 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, provide irrigation for an additional 16,700 hectares of land, supply 140 million cubic meters of potable water per year, and deliver annual economic benefits of approximately RMB 2.58 billion. The project holds significant strategic importance for alleviating Pakistan’s power shortage, promoting agricultural development, improving living standards, and enhancing water resource management and regulation capabilities.
