For many years, Liaoning Fuan Heavy Industry has actively expanded into overseas hydropower equipment markets, steadily building its capacity for international project delivery. Recently, the complete set of core turbine components—including the upper crown, lower ring, and blades—manufactured by the company for Andritz’s Cahora Bassa Hydropower Station refurbishment project has successfully passed the final joint inspection and acceptance conducted by Andritz, the power station’s owner‑representative, and the project’s engineering firm. Both the product performance metrics and the precision of the finished parts meet the required technical standards, marking the official completion of the project delivery.
This acceptance inspection was led by Mr. Cerqueira, a hydro‑turbine systems engineer from Andritz Germany, and comprised a joint team that included Mr. Pires, Project Manager of the Reabsul II project at Mozambique’s Cahora Bassa Hydroelectric Power Station; Mr. Rodrigues, the engineering lead; Mr. Gomes, an engineer; Mr. Söjberg, the Swedish engineering consultant for the project; as well as the Andritz China Project Manager and quality‑inspection engineers. The team conducted a comprehensive compliance review covering the entire project lifecycle. Leveraging its standardized quality‑management system and mature heavy‑equipment manufacturing processes, Fuan Heavy Industry successfully passed all verification criteria across every dimension, earning formal recognition from the overseas client and the international project team.

The Cahora Bassa Hydroelectric Power Station, located in the Zambezi River Basin within Mozambique, is the country’s largest hydropower facility and a key energy hub for Southern Africa. Since its commissioning, it has operated reliably for several decades, serving as a cornerstone of regional energy supply and supporting the industrialization of Southern Africa while meeting domestic electricity demand. It holds a strategically vital position within Africa’s energy‑supply network.
The power station was originally equipped with Francis turbine‑generator units, each rated at 415 MW, for a total installed capacity of 2,075 MW, consistently providing stable, clean electricity to Mozambique. Following the completion of this upgrade, the rated output of each unit will increase to 433 MW, while the overall generation efficiency, operational reliability, and energy utilization will see systematic improvements. Once the retrofit is finished, the plant’s supply capacity will not only fully meet Mozambique’s domestic demand for electricity but also enable large‑scale, sustained power exports to neighboring countries such as South Africa and Zimbabwe. As a key hub for cross‑border power interconnection and shared energy resources in Southern Africa, the upgraded facility will provide a reliable, green power supply to support the region’s coordinated economic development.

For many years, Fuan Heavy Industry has strategically focused on hydropower equipment, new‑energy equipment, and the manufacturing of high‑end heavy machinery, with a particular emphasis on the R&D and production of core components for large‑scale hydro turbines. Backed by consistently reliable product quality, mature and advanced manufacturing technologies, and a comprehensive end‑to‑end delivery service system, the company’s products have gradually gained footholds in international high‑end equipment markets across Europe, Africa, Southeast Asia, and other regions, while continuously supporting the construction of major energy projects worldwide. Leveraging its well‑established manufacturing capabilities, Fuan Heavy Industry is steadily advancing its global business expansion.
Looking ahead, the company will continue to deepen its expertise in the clean‑energy equipment manufacturing sector, relentlessly refine its production processes, and drive technological innovation. Leveraging its mature domestic manufacturing capabilities, it will undertake more high‑end international projects, consistently delivering high‑quality heavy‑duty equipment and specialized ancillary services to the global market, actively participating in worldwide energy infrastructure development, and supporting the global transition to green energy—thereby enhancing the international recognition of China’s heavy‑duty equipment and Made in China products.
