[News Report] Record-Breaking Achievement: Key Components for the 700 MW Hydrogenerator Unit at the Longtan Project, Developed by Dongfang Motor, Have Been Successfully Rush-Produced and Delivered on Schedule.

On November 19, 2024, Fuan Heavy Industry successfully completed, 45 days ahead of schedule, the manufacturing of critical components for the 700 MW hydroelectric turbine-generator unit at the Longtan Hydropower Station—namely the upper crown, lower ring, and blades—on behalf of Dongfang Electric Corporation’s Dongfang Motor Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Dongfang Motor”). A shipment ceremony was subsequently held at Fuan Heavy Industry, attended by Zhang Yuansong, Deputy Director of Dongfang Motor’s Procurement Center; Hu Lei, Deputy Director of the Project Management Center; Yu Guangyu, Deputy General Manager of Fuan Heavy Industry; Gong Ruchang, Head of the Production Department; and other relevant leaders.

Director Zhang Yuansong, as the representative of the Procurement Center of Dongfang Motor, extended sincere gratitude to all colleagues at Fuan Heavy Industry for their strong support in the R&D and manufacturing phases of the Longtan Project. At the same time, Director Zhang warmly congratulated Fuan Heavy Industry on the successful delivery of the crown rings, lower rings, and blade castings for the Longtan Project. He expressed his hope that Fuan Heavy Industry will continue to strengthen its support for Dongfang Motor, and that the two parties will work together to overcome challenges and make even greater contributions to the construction of major national projects.

Director Hu Lei emphasized that, as a key project for Dongfang Motor, the Longtan Project’s urgency cannot be overlooked. Both the project owner and Dongfang Motor’s senior management have paid close attention to the Longtan Project. In the face of challenges, Fuan Heavy Industry has responded proactively and made every possible effort to accelerate production, thereby providing solid support to Dongfang Motor. On behalf of Dongfang Motor and the Longtan Project’s owner, Director Hu Lei expressed sincere gratitude to all employees of Fuan Heavy Industry. He also noted that over the next three years, Dongfang Motor will continue to undertake the construction of several national key projects, and as a critical partner of the company, Fuan Heavy Industry will assume greater manufacturing responsibilities. He expressed his hope that the two parties will further strengthen their collaboration, consistently deliver high-quality projects and model initiatives, and make new contributions to advancing the high-quality development of China’s hydropower industry.

The Longtan Hydropower Station is located upstream of Tian’e County in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. As a pivotal project under the “West-to-East Power Transmission” strategy, it plays a vital role in the large-scale development of western China. The station is planned to be equipped with nine 700-MW hydroelectric generating units, for a total installed capacity of 6,300 MW. The construction of the Longtan Hydropower Station will significantly contribute to meeting the growing electricity demand in South China, optimizing the power supply and generation mix of the Southern Power Grid, improving navigation conditions on the Hongshui River, reducing flood risks along both banks of the Xijiang River in the lower reaches of the Hongshui River, and promoting the comprehensive economic and social development of ethnic minority areas in Guangxi and Guizhou.

In response to the customer’s request for early delivery, Fuan Heavy Industry remained true to its brand philosophy of “high-end castings and first-class service.” Through meticulous planning and rigorous production processes, and with the concerted efforts of all departments and employees, the company successfully delivered the products to the customer in accordance with premium quality standards, earning high praise from the client.

From contract signing to process R&D, from production and manufacturing to final delivery to the customer, the Longtan project was completed in just 145 days, breaking Fuan Heavy Industry’s previous record of a 180-day production cycle for hydropower products weighing over 80 tons. This achievement is a testament to the unity and collaboration of all employees and once again demonstrates that Fuan Heavy Industry does not shy away from tight schedules or stringent quality requirements. Throughout the entire production process, no delays occurred, product quality met the “zero-defect” standard, and every unit passed the customer’s inspection on the first attempt—clearly reflecting the company’s time-honored tradition of being “ready to fight and sure to win.”
