[Company News] Fuan Heavy Industry Successfully Passes National Qualification Review for 1-Million-Kilowatt-Class Nuclear Power High-Pressure Outer Casing

October 9, 2024 by Harbin Steam Turbine Factory Co., Ltd. has invited China Power Investment Guangxi Nuclear Power Co., Ltd., Shandong Nuclear Power Co., Ltd., and Shanghai Institute of Nuclear Engineering Research and Design Co., Ltd. to form a nuclear power audit expert panel (hereinafter referred to as the Audit Expert Panel), comprising eight members, who have visited Fuan Heavy Industry. The primary purpose of this visit is to review and assess Fuan Heavy Industry’s technical capabilities, production and manufacturing capacity, quality control capabilities, equipment availability, personnel management capabilities, and commercial capabilities in the production and fabrication of million-kilowatt-class nuclear power high-pressure outer cylinders.

Since early May 2024, Fuan Heavy Industry has been making preparations under the leadership of General Manager Liu Aiguo by establishing a Nuclear Power Qualification Review Task Force. The task force is headed by Chief Engineer Li Min, with Deputy Heads including Quality Deputy Director Hong Yuexin, Machining Chief Engineer Xu Yuguang, and General Manager’s Assistant Ju Yangyang, and its members comprise key personnel from all major departments across the company.

After five months of comprehensive review, Fuan Heavy Industry has implemented a multi-faceted approach—ranging from company-wide training and examinations on nuclear safety and nuclear culture to extensive on-site displays and publicity, as well as end-to-end control across technology, production, and quality—to ensure that every employee fully understands that nuclear safety is an essential component of national security. At the same time, employees have come to recognize the close link between the reliability of nuclear power plant equipment and the safe construction and operation of nuclear power stations. The company mandates strict adherence to the principle of “zero tolerance for non-compliant operations and zero tolerance for falsification” among all staff. During the execution of nuclear power project deliverables, employees must rigorously comply with regulations and procedures, act with integrity and trustworthiness, and observe all rules and discipline, thereby avoiding any violation of the company’s “quality red lines” and “quality high-voltage thresholds.”

The review meeting was chaired by Deputy General Manager Yu Guangyu, during which Fuan Heavy Industry fully showcased The review panel thoroughly examined Fuan Heavy Industry’s strengths in production and manufacturing capabilities, technological R&D, quality control, and equipment capacity, and provided a detailed overview of the company’s production performance on nuclear power projects and other initiatives. Following a rigorous and comprehensive assessment that included on-site inspections of production facilities, document reviews, and audits of the quality assurance system, the panel unanimously concluded that Fuan Heavy Industry meets the requirements for manufacturing high-pressure outer casings for million-kilowatt-class nuclear power units, thereby successfully passing the nuclear power audit conducted by the expert review panel.

Fuan Heavy Industry has successfully passed the qualification review for the production of million-kilowatt-class nuclear power high-pressure outer cylinders, which serves as a higher-level validation of the company’s comprehensive strength and marks its official entry into the nuclear power sector, thereby fulfilling its corporate mission to contribute to the revitalization of China’s national industry.
