Recently, the core turbine components manufactured by Liaoning Fuan Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. for the retrofit project at Andritz Brazil’s Baygorria Hydroelectric Plant have undergone rigorous inspection and been certified as compliant, with delivery from the factory now successfully completed.

The Baygorria Hydroelectric Plant is located in the Negro River basin in Uruguay, with a total installed capacity of 108 megawatts and a designed annual generation of approximately 400 million kilowatt-hours. It can deliver a reliable average output of 65,000 kilowatts per year, serving as a core pillar of Uruguay’s clean energy supply system. As a key partner in Andritz’s global supply chain, Fosan Heavy Industry has undertaken the precision manufacturing of critical components for this project, including turbine runner bodies and blades, which are directly used in the core upgrade phase of the generating units.

During the execution of the Baygorria Hydroelectric Plant project, Andritz Brazil’s quality and technical team conducted multiple rounds of rigorous audits across the entire value chain, covering Fuan Heavy Industries’ casting and smelting processes, precision machining, nondestructive testing, and end-to-end quality control. In the face of the dual challenges posed by stringent technical specifications and a tight delivery schedule, Fuan Heavy Industries leveraged its years of accumulated management expertise and manufacturing capabilities to optimize casting simulations and CNC machining strategies, and established a comprehensive, end-to-end quality traceability system. This ensured that all components not only fully met but exceeded the customer’s requirements in critical performance indicators such as dimensional accuracy after precision machining, material properties, and surface quality. As a result, the project successfully passed final acceptance with “zero defects,” earning high praise from the Andritz Brazil project team.

This delivery represents another significant achievement in the collaboration between Fuan Heavy Industry and Andritz Brazil, and serves as a practical demonstration of how China’s high-end manufacturing is supporting the clean-energy transition in Latin America.

Looking ahead, Fuan Heavy Industry will remain driven by technological innovation and underpinned by uncompromising quality, further deepening its collaboration with equipment manufacturers worldwide. The company will deliver high-quality core components and integrated solutions for hydropower and new-energy projects around the globe, thereby advancing China’s intelligent manufacturing in support of global energy development.
