On August 19–20, 2026, a team of technical and procurement experts from GE VERNOVA visited Fuan Heavy Industry to conduct in-depth technical exchanges on key components for the Dinorwig Pumped Storage Power Station in the United Kingdom. Through face-to-face discussions, they sought to overcome critical technical barriers and accelerate project implementation.

A joint team comprising Xin Wen, Purchasing Director of GE VERNOVA (China); Jiang Xinan, Global Procurement Manager; Zhang Hongjie, VCII expert in value-chain industrialization and innovative casting; Hassoune El-Hamrouni, VCII expert in value-chain industrialization and innovation technologies at GE VERNOVA (Europe); and Christophe Eche, Mechanical Project Engineer, paid a visit to Fu’an Heavy Industry. Attending the meeting were Fu’an Heavy Industry’s Chief Engineer Li Min, Quality Director Hong Yuexin, and heads of the Technology Department—Kang Zheng, Zhang Jixin, and Fang Zhen—as well as Production Director Gong Ruchang, among other business leaders. The two sides’ technical, quality, and marketing teams engaged in comprehensive exchanges and discussions.
At the meeting, both parties engaged in a detailed discussion focused on the technical方案, manufacturing processes, and quality‑control standards for the Dinorwig outer‑ring project. GE VERNOVA’s China–Europe team provided a comprehensive overview of the project’s stringent technical requirements regarding material properties, machining accuracy, and assembly tolerances. Drawing on its extensive manufacturing expertise in large hydropower equipment components, Fuan Heavy Industry’s technical team leveraged its own experience in producing parts for major hydropower stations to propose several process‑optimization measures, ensuring full alignment with the project’s high‑end manufacturing needs.
Meanwhile, the two parties engaged in a thorough exchange of views on key matters such as the project’s production schedule, inspection and acceptance procedures, and logistics‑delivery arrangements, clearly defining the handover milestones at each stage and delineating the respective responsibilities of both sides. As a result, they reached an important technical consensus, laying a solid foundation for the project’s subsequent implementation.

The Dinorwig Pumped Storage Power Station, located in North Wales, UK, is renowned as the “Mountain of Electricity” and stands as a quintessential pumped-storage hub in Europe. With a total installed capacity of 1,728 MW, it can ramp up to full load within just over ten seconds, playing a critical role in frequency regulation, peak‑shaving, and ensuring reliable power supply for the UK grid.
Building on the unified technical consensus reached during this exchange, both parties have defined the next phase of their roadmap, accelerating the final approval of design drawings and the preparation of process documentation. Meanwhile, Fuan Heavy Industry has initiated raw material procurement and production readiness, ensuring the project progresses smoothly and in strict accordance with the established schedule. GE VERNOVA will subsequently deploy technical experts to the plant to provide on-site support, promptly address any technical challenges that arise during production, and, following completion of the first prototype, conduct joint inspections with Fuan Heavy Industry to maintain rigorous quality control.
This on-site exchange between GE VERNOVA and Chinese experts has fostered the deep integration of both sides’ technological philosophies and manufacturing standards, further strengthening the foundation of mutual trust. It has also solidified the strategic partnership between Fuan Heavy Industry and GE VERNOVA in the global hydropower equipment sector, while building momentum for jointly developing more clean-energy projects at home and abroad and expanding the scope of global cooperation.
