Desulfurization Project for the 3 × 35 t/h Coal-Fired Boilers at Anqian Mine
The boiler house at the Anqian Mine of Angang Mining Company was constructed to support the Hujiamiaozǐ Iron Mine and is located at the ore-dressing plant in Hujiamiaozǐ Village, Qidashan Town, Lishan District, Anshan City.
The boiler house is equipped with three SHL 35-1.25-AⅡ coal-fired steam boilers, each with a capacity of 35 t/h. The three boilers share a single chimney, which was originally a 60-meter brick chimney rebuilt in 2005. Following multiple joint reviews and deliberations by the design institute’s leadership and the mining company, it was decided to adopt a post-furnace magnesium oxide wet flue-gas desulfurization (FGD) system for this project. This FGD technology is advanced, well-established, and highly reliable; it features cost-effectiveness, a rational design, ease of operation and maintenance, and the ability to optimize the desulfurization efficiency of the existing desulfurization unit, thereby enhancing overall performance. Moreover, this desulfurization process is recognized by the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the People’s Republic of China as one of the best available technologies for pollution prevention and control. Ultimately, the final scheme calls for implementing flue-gas desulfurization for all three boilers using a “three boilers–one tower” configuration. Our company will undertake the entire scope of the project on a turnkey basis, including site investigation, engineering design, procurement, construction, commissioning, operation, and maintenance, thus pioneering the first turnkey EPC project for energy-saving and environmentally friendly desulfurization and laying a solid foundation for our institute’s future design of desulfurization projects.
The primary scope of this project includes the construction of a new 65-meter-high reinforced-concrete chimney, the demolition of an existing 60-meter-high brick chimney, and the installation of a new FGD system with a 98% availability rate. Construction commenced on April 30, 2012, and installation was completed by October 31, 2012. On November 1, the project entered the phases of individual equipment commissioning, no-load integrated commissioning, and, starting November 6, hot-state flue-gas testing. At 10:00 a.m. on November 7, the entire system was started up and put into loaded trial operation. Following the start-up, all system parameters were adjusted, and by November 10, 2012, the desulfurization efficiency had reached its design value. At 17:00 on December 22, 2012, the 168-hour full-system trial run was initiated, and it was successfully completed at 17:00 on December 29, 2012. The results of the 168-hour full-system trial run were satisfactory.
At the request of the mining company, on December 24, 2012, we commissioned the Environmental Protection Supervision Station of the Mining Company’s Quality and Technology Center to conduct testing on this project. The test results showed a desulfurization efficiency of 88%–90%. Subsequently, on March 14, we invited the Anshan Municipal Environmental Monitoring Center to conduct another round of testing, which confirmed a desulfurization efficiency of 96%. This significantly exceeds the 85% desulfurization efficiency requirement stipulated in the EPC contract.
Currently, this project has entered the formal production phase, characterized by accurate and stable equipment operation.
